The Easiest Way To Change Your Life

I recently read a story on Medium about an engineer who left his 450K paying job at Netflix to pursue what he really wanted to do with his life. In my humble opinion that takes guts and a little bit of crazy.

We all have that one friend who is constantly reinventing themselves. They change their hair, their style, their job…everything! And while we may roll our eyes at their constant need for change, there’s actually something to be admired in their willingness to try new things.

Maybe it’s time to reinvent yourself! Here are a few tips on how to do just that:

1. Write Down Your Future State

You may think that you are foggy on what your reinvention of yourself will be, but don’t freak out! Write it down in detail. It’s hard to get there if we can’t identify our destination.

2. Develop a Mantra

Select a Mantra that resonates with you to keep you on track. Here are some ideas to choose from or make up your own: 100 Examples Of Personal Mantras (+ How To Create Your Own)

Recite your mantras when you wake up in the morning. When you are driving. And especially when you hear those negative inner thoughts creeping in.

3. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Try something different but related to your goal of reinventing yourself. I wanted to become an author. Although I am an introvert, I joined a book group at my local library. I read books I normally would not. The experience gave me insight into how readers think and feel.

4. Reframe Your Fears

When you’re feeling stuck and overwhelmed by doubt, fear of change or just can’t get moving in a positive direction. Say it straight to yourself or even better say it out loud“My new life is going to be amazing! It’ll feel like I’m doing something meaningful for myself.”

The mind is a powerful muscle. The more you tell yourself positive things, it will become second nature and your brain starts to believe in them too!

5. Laugh Out Loud

While it may be a long road to reinvent yourself, keep your sense of humor and remember that laughter is the best way to find joy in this process. Watch clips of late night talk shows; their hosts will turn even serious topics into laugh out loud silliness!

6. Do It for You

By taking some time to reflect on your passions and strengths, you can begin to create a new identity for yourself that is more in line with who you want to be. Don’t be afraid to try something new — you may find that you are much better at it than you thought. And if things don’t work out the way you planned, remember that it’s always okay to start over. The most important thing is that you keep moving forward and don’t give up on yourself.

I reinvented myself and wrote my first novel. I love writing and I continue to pursue my passion. Are you ready to reinvent yourself? Drop me a comment what you are working towards.

Til next time,
Elena
